ADHD assessments are comprehensive evaluations, not single tests, involving interviews (self, parent, teacher), standardized rating scales (like Conners, Brown, ASRS), symptom observation, and cognitive performance measures (like CPTs), all compared to DSM-5 criteria for inattention/hyperactivity across settings (home, school, work) for a reliable diagnosis, often starting in childhood but also common in adults.
