Compassionate Billing & Rebates
Saga Psychology recognises the financial burden that therapy can place on families. We may offer rebated sessions on compassionate grounds and consider bulk billing in certain circumstances to ensure that children and families receive the support they need. Please discuss your situation with us to explore available options.
Mandatory Intake Assessment for Parents
Before commencing therapy, parents are required to attend an initial intake assessment. This session provides an opportunity to discuss the child's history, needs, and goals for therapy. Please note that this intake session is not reimbursable by Medicare. The cost of this session aligns with our standard consultation rate.

FAQs
What happens during the first session?
The first session is an intake assessment where we discuss your child’s developmental history, strengths, and challenges. This session helps us understand their unique needs and determine the best support strategies. Parents are required to attend this session, which is not reimbursable by Medicare.
Can I claim sessions through Medicare or NDIS?
Yes, we support Medicare clients with a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and NDIS participants (self-managed and plan-managed). Medicare rebates are available for eligible sessions, and bulk billing may be considered on compassionate grounds.
What therapy approaches do you use for children with autism and ADHD?
We use evidence-based approaches, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), play-based interventions, and assistive technology tools. Our sessions are tailored to each child’s unique needs.
Do parents need to be involved in therapy?
Yes, parental involvement is crucial. Depending on the child’s needs, parents may be required to attend some sessions, implement strategies at home, and collaborate with our team to ensure consistency in support.
How do I prepare my child for their first session?
To help your child feel comfortable, explain that they are meeting someone who will help them with their feelings, behaviour, and learning strategies. Bringing a familiar toy or object can also provide comfort during the session.
